About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated Outstanding SEN school in Preston. The school caters to pupils aged 4-19 with severe and profound learning difficulties, including those with Autism Spectrum Conditions and complex medical needs.

The school's innovative curriculum focuses on five key areas: Communication, Thinking, Well-being, Body, and World. Each pupil's unique needs are met through a personalised approach guided by their Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support for SEN pupils, working 1:1 and with small groups.
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and develop confidence.
  • Assist with general classroom tasks and behaviour management.
  • Use effective strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour.
  • Motivate and inspire students to actively engage in their education.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN children in a school or similar setting.
  • Confidence in working with vulnerable individuals on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to learning and behaviour support.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
  • An enhanced child and adult DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

Salary: £12.90+ per hour, inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Location: Preston

Contract: Temporary, with possibility of permanent role in some cases.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm.
