About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Hoare Lea. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions for a wide range of projects across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing mechanical engineering systems at the highest level using the latest software design packages.
  • Leading mechanical services design on large projects and taking overall lead on small to medium-sized projects within the office.
  • Developing initial strategic concepts for projects, ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
  • Engaging with junior support staff in their day-to-day activities and offering advice and guidance to ensure they develop their skills.
  • Monitoring fee expenditure, resource, and work delivered, and identifying opportunities for innovation and research.
Requirements
  • Excellent technical knowledge in Mechanical Design Engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.
  • Previous consultancy experience, with an appreciation of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modeling.
  • Autonomous approach, with the ability to lead small to medium-sized projects and take a brief from the project lead on large projects.
  • Responsible for the quality of our outputs, with an appreciation of client needs and the ability to face clients.
  • Ability to identify when outsourcing is required, such as design and CAD work.
  • Understanding and identification of resource needs, with the ability to mentor and supervise junior members of staff.
