Job Title: Patent Attorney - Crop Protection Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Attorney to join our Intellectual Property team at Syngenta Crop Protection. As a Patent Attorney, you will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, assessing the validity of third-party patent rights, and advising on infringement and litigation issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting and Prosecution: Draft patent applications and prosecute patents worldwide for crop protection-related inventions.
• Freedom-to-Operate: Advise the business on freedom-to-operate of projects, products, and programs.
• Client Counselling: Evaluate patent validity and infringement issues, review IP-related agreements, and manage an IP portfolio.
• IP Strategy: Develop global, regional, and country IP strategies for assigned areas of responsibility.

Requirements:

• Qualifications: Fully Qualified European Patent Attorney within 5 years post qualification. Dual qualification as UK registered patent attorney or relevant national equivalent is preferred.
• Education: Degree, preferably PhD, in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Natural Sciences or experience dealing with natural products and fermentation technology.
• Skills: Excellent oral and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
