From the legendary setting of the Cullinan I diamond, the world's largest cut and colourless diamond, to glittering tiaras worn at state occasions and Princess Diana's iconic engagement ring, Garrard has crafted some of the most famous jewels of all time.

After almost 300 years, the House's industry-leading designers, gemmologists and craftspeople continue to be entrusted with extraordinary new designs for royalty and private clients, alongside the exquisite jewels in Garrard's collections, each of which bears the quintessential British hallmarks of heritage and handcraftsmanship.

Overall Summary

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Head of Production and Production Team to assist in all operational aspects of Garrard production.

You will;

  • Have a keen interest in fine jewellery and gemstones

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in quality checking all Garrard jewellery to ensure it meets the company's high standards.
  • Maintenance of the departments QC log, tracking any persistent issues and flagging this to the appropriate department.
  • Maintenance of the logs for wedding bands, eternity and signet rings, ensuring that all relevant engraving detail is captured and communication with internal and external workshops is maintained so that all production deadlines are met.
  • Communicating with workshops on quality issues and product that does not pass quality standards, returning product where applicable.
  • Checking and creating comprehensive stone reports for all high value gemstones which pass through the business, capturing detailed images, noting all relevant stone information as well as any areas of concern.
  • Creation and maintenance of comprehensive QC reports with detailed images for all High Jewellery and single stone items, as well as keeping the list of QC reports up to date.
  • Working alongside the Head of Production to ensure all repairs are reviewed and actioned in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining Garrard jewellery repair and workshop logs to ensure items are complete in time and accounting for material and costs.
  • Supporting the production team in checking all stones related to repairs and conveying any necessary information and concerns so that accurate quotes and information may be communicated to the retail team.
  • Creating accurate shipping documents for product shipments.
  • Maintaining SKU information, such as detailed measurements and specifications, for use within the department and for ecommerce purposes.
  • Assisting in all other ad hoc production duties on a day-to-day basis.
  • Building strong channels of communication with all internal departments eg. Sales, Merchandising and Logistics, working to overcome challenges that may affect the delivery of the production timeline.
  • Management and direct responsibility over the teams Production Assistant, delegating relevant tasks, monitoring their performance, steering their growth, as well as recognising and addressing any knowledge gaps and providing constructive feedback.

Skills

  • Experience in quality checking fine jewellery is essential
  • Gemmological knowledge of diamonds and other precious stones, a gemmological qualification is essential
  • Line management skills and experience
  • Team-oriented and able to work flexibly across different departments
  • A logical thinker who is precise and has excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working to tight deadlines
  • Experience in SAP software a bonus
  • Proficient IT in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Good spoken and written English
