{"Job Title": "Teaching Assistant - ASC and SEMH", "Location": "Brighton, UK", "Contract Type": "Full-time, Term-time Only", "Job Description": "We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work closely with a student with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attachment needs, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide 1:1 tailored support for students with ASC, attachment needs, and SEMH difficulties.
* Work alongside class teachers and SENCo to implement personalised education plans.
* Support the emotional wellbeing and social development of the student, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.
* Help all students engage with learning activities, both in and outside the classroom.
* Use effective communication strategies to build trust and positive relationships with the student, their family, and the wider school community.
* Assist with behaviour management, using de-escalation techniques when needed.
* Monitor and report on the student's progress, adapting strategies to meet changing needs.

Essential Skills and Experience:

* Previous experience working in an educational setting, or with children/young people with mental health challenges or autism.
* A strong understanding of the challenges associated with ASC, attachment issues, and SEMH.
* Ability to communicate effectively and with empathy, especially when managing challenging behaviour.
* A calm, patient, and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience in supporting students with personalised learning strategies, including visual timetables, sensory breaks, and social stories.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* A clean and current DBS that is on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Qualifications:

* Relevant qualifications in Education, Special Educational Needs, or Mental Health.
* Training in ASC, SEMH, or Attachment theory.
* Knowledge of therapeutic or de-escalation techniques, such as Team Teach or similar.
