Job Overview:

Austin Fraser is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to join our team in Lancaster. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining equipment, constructing and modifying apparatus, and taking an active part in laboratory demonstrations.

About the Role:

This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and hardworking individual to work as a Laboratory Support Specialist in a school environment. The role involves ordering resources, helping in practical lessons, and giving technical help to pupils and students.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus in good working condition
  • Construct and modify apparatus as required
  • Set up experiments and take an active part in laboratory demonstrations
  • Order resources and materials as needed
  • Help with practical lessons and provide technical support to pupils and students
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Recent experience of working in a school environment or similar setting
  • Hardworking and flexible, with ability to use initiative
  • Experience with Health & Safety and cleanliness, ensuring a safe environment
  • Ability to develop good relationships with children and adults
  • Commitment to Safeguarding
  • Availability on a part-time or full-time basis and ability to travel around the local area

What We Offer:

Austin Fraser offers a competitive salary of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus access to Reed discount club and pension scheme, free Continuous Professional Development through LCC, and excellent support and guidance from your dedicated consultant.

Requirements:

  • GCSEs in Science and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Recent experience of working in a school environment or similar setting
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel
