Job Title: Learning Support Assistant Progressions
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our Progressions team at Heart of Worcestershire College. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality learning support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, enabling them to engage and achieve their goals.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum staff, Student Services, and external agencies to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Provide support for the delivery of specialist foundation programs, including those for students with autism, mental health needs, and learning difficulties.
- Ensure that students with support needs are fully engaged with Learner Services and reinforce College attendance policies.
- Support a flexible caseload of individual and/or groups of supported learners with specialist needs.
- Assist in pre-entry activities, such as recruitment, enrollment, and assessment of support needs.
- Liaise with LSDO TAVs, PLCs, and other lead delivery staff to ensure support can be targeted and managed within the learning session.
- Contribute to the negotiation, monitoring, and support of individual learning objectives.
- Enable learning support procedures to be carried out in line with best practice guidelines, including Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality and Diversity, and Health and Safety.
- Make an active contribution to the attainment of Functional Skills for supported learners.
Requirements:
- Level 2 (at least) qualification in both Maths and English, or a willingness to gain.
- Experience gained in support services, especially for young people (e.g., education, Social Services, mental health services, the NHS).
- Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults.
- Experience in providing support in a classroom and one-to-one.
- First Aid Trained, or willingness to undertake the training and remain up to date.
- Fire Marshal duty trained or willingness to undertake the training and remain up to date.
