Job Description:

Velindre University NHS Trust seeks a skilled Medical Physicist to provide technical scientific advice on radiation protection legislation. The ideal candidate will have experience in radiation protection practice and accreditation as a Radioactive Waste Adviser, Medical Physics Expert, and Qualified Person for instrument testing.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist advice on radiation protection legislation
  • Act as Radioactive Waste Adviser for unsealed and sealed radioactive materials
  • Act as Medical Physics Expert in unsealed sources and diagnostic radiology
  • Accreditation as a Qualified Person for instrument testing
Requirements:
  • MSc Medical Physics or equivalent qualification
  • UK HCPC Clinical Scientist Registration (or certainty of obtaining it)
  • Accreditation as a Radioactive Waste Advisor and Medical Physics Expert (or ability to apply within one year)
  • In-depth knowledge of ionising radiation protection metrology metrics and quantities
Experience:
  • Experience in applying radiation protection practice in unsealed and sealed radioactive materials
  • Appropriate experience compatible with acknowledgement of Radioactive Waste Adviser status
  • Appropriate experience compatible with acknowledgement of Medical Physics Expert status
Salary:

£60,000 - £80,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
