About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at West Midlands Metro. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our tram service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative scheduled maintenance on our trams, working on complex systems incorporating mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Conduct corrective maintenance on our trams, including troubleshooting, fault finding, and diagnosis using computer equipment and on-tram diagnostics systems, followed by repairs as necessary.
  • Support the testing, commissioning, and acceptance of new trams.
  • Record all work activities, including preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Accurately report and record details of fault finding and diagnosis.
  • Collaborate with Rolling Stock Engineering Management to deliver the production plan and ensure timely completion of exam tasks.
  • Participate in ongoing continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Experience in undertaking preventative and corrective maintenance on high-value safety-critical equipment.
  • Experience in finding and diagnosing faults in complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in using computer-based diagnostic equipment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Mechanical and Electrical ONC or a time-served apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
  • Engineering-based NVQ level 3.
