">Role Description
">We are seeking an experienced Chief Procurement Officer to join our Head Office in Liverpool City Centre. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to work with one of the UK's leading companies, committed to strategic sourcing and procurement excellence.
">The Senior Procurement Manager will be responsible for:

- Strategically sourcing goods and services to improve quality and provide innovative opportunities at the lowest total cost of ownership.">
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to create comprehensive category management strategies and lead delivery.">
- Ensuring all goods and services are sourced responsibly, aligning with regulatory, ethical, technical, sustainability, and customer requirements.">
- Providing consultative expertise, offering insight to support business strategy and development.">
- Championing business processes and governance, supporting the Head of Finished Goods Procurement in developing other colleagues.">

Key Responsibilities
">- ">
- Create and develop category and sourcing plans with business stakeholders.">
- Utilize SAP Ariba to conduct sourcing activities and document delivery of cost savings.">
- Drive partnership strategy to ensure collaborative business growth planning and continuity of supply.">
- Obtain the lowest possible total cost of ownership through negotiation, market intelligence, and supplier knowledge.">
- Conduct regular reviews with stakeholders and provide reporting on key initiatives, including cost reduction projects.">
- Communicate market conditions clearly and concisely to both internal and external audiences.">
- Use ERP systems to drive analytics and provide reports for category plans and analysis.">
- Apply tools to maximize value delivery (e-auctions, should cost modeling, TCO, value lever analysis).">
- Demonstrate commercial awareness and lead negotiations across allocated areas of third-party spend.">
- Develop strong supplier relationships to drive innovative opportunities and value.">
- Mitigate risks across allocated spend responsibility.">
- Manage spend throughout the lifecycle.">
- Serve as a subject matter expert across allocated spend and act as a trusted partner to the business.">
- Excellent working knowledge of major suppliers' personnel, processes, internal systems, and cost drivers.">
- Drive working capital reduction across the category.">
- Develop and maintain responsible suppliers meeting Princes/Industry standards, SEDEX registered (where applicable), and auditable.">
- Manage contracts professionally, maintaining cost conditions and source lists.">
- Control currency requirements in line with group policy, if required.">
- Resolve problems fairly and ethically while protecting long-term interests.">
- Support stakeholder satisfaction efforts across departments.">
Requirements
">The ideal candidate should possess:
">- ">
- A thorough understanding of procurement processes and frameworks.">
- Previous experience in a Category Manager or similar role.">
- Excellent working knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier development, and value chain mapping.">
- Strong working knowledge of allocated areas of spend.">
- Understanding of contract principles and clauses, with the ability to construct and interpret agreements.">
- SAP analytics and reporting skills.">
- Degree-level qualification, ideally business-related (desired but not essential).">
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.">
- Associate or student of CIPS (desirable but not essential).">
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and overseas.">
