About the Role

The ideal candidate will work as part of a dedicated Automation team to plan and develop automated methods and workflows for laboratory automation. This involves collaborating with cross-functional teams across the company to plan and implement automated methods and workflows based on manual lab processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop programming best practices for liquid handling robots, ideally Hamilton STAR series liquid handlers;
  • Author controlled documentation and provide training to members of other teams on developed methods;
  • Communicate regularly in group meetings and present to project teams and internal stakeholders;
  • Work closely with teams across the company to plan and implement automated methods and workflows.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BSc or MSc in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field, or a BSc or MSc in engineering with relevant experience in a life sciences-related role;
  • At least three years of experience in industry or academia, in laboratory automation;
  • Experience with programming languages, such as Python, for solving problems or aiding automated workflows;
  • Strong organisational and communication skills to manage own project timelines and work cross-functionally with other departments;
  • Ability to provide training in automated methods and write standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training documents to a high standard.

Estimated Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum
