Software Engineering Delivery Lead

Overview of the Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Delivery Manager to join our team at Thales UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead the software development process and ensure successful delivery of projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, tailoring, and enforcing the software development process, requesting and managing resources, leading estimating activities, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Naval engineering team and programme team colleagues to develop realistic plans and schedules that identify clear priorities for software activities.
- Maintain and update software development plans that are mindful of evolving customer and business requirements.
- Ensure the defined software development process is followed and necessary artefacts are generated to adequate quality, timeliness, and budget.
- Lead the estimating process in the Naval portfolio for the software function and collaborate with other engineering functions to build realistic and affordable winning bids.
- Report monthly on software delivery performance for work package performance.
- Represent the company and software function at customer-facing meetings or audits.
- Support Agile Scrum teams and work with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to maintain focus on milestones and budgets.
- Carry out regular performance discussions and wellbeing 1-2-1s and collaboratively develop training and development plans with the software function.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have experience in successfully leading software projects to deliver on-time and to budget, preferably for real-time and embedded software systems. Experience with Agile development methodologies and a track record in continuous improvement is also essential. Additionally, experience in requirements management across the software developmental life-cycle and technology uplifts such as OS upgrades and new tech insertion into established products in complex/distributed systems is desirable.
