Operational Technology Engineering Specialist

We're delighted to be launching our Operational Technology programme for 2024. This role involves repairing and maintaining our assets to ensure we can continue to deliver for our customers.
What is Operational Technology?- Operational Technology sits within the ICA engineering discipline, focusing on instrumentation, control, and automation systems. This involves designing, installing, and maintaining devices and systems that monitor and control industrial processes.
- This is a varied and interesting role, where you'll have many opportunities to develop both your technical knowledge and abilities. You'll work towards gaining a recognised professional qualification as you learn and can look forward to a long-term career with one of the South West's largest employers.
- You will be paid a competitive salary starting at £17,782 per annum. You'll also be eligible for our internal bonus scheme, as well as any company-wide pay increases that are offered during this time.
- The programme is 4 years:
- Year 1 – College (Level 2)
- 4 x days at college
- 1 x study day
- Completing a Level 3 Utilities Engineering Technician Apprenticeship via our training partners - a structured programme of training conducted within the state-of-the-art Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departmental workshops.
- Contribute to a healthy and safe working environment by working to our approved codes of practice.
- Becoming proficient in the application and use of a wide range of machine tools.
- Developing fitting and assembly skills.
- Educating yourself in electrical maintenance and fault-finding investigations.
- Training in the use of mechanical & electrical software packages.
- Carrying out other tasks and duties as directed that contribute to the required levels of performance and competence.
- The coaching and mentoring required to support you in fulfilling your role, working towards becoming an independent technician.
- A structured induction and training programme, fully supported by the business.
- Time for off-the-job training to attend college and/or support the apprentice programme.
- Regular reviews between you, the college, and the business to ensure you are receiving the support and knowledge you need to fulfil your role.
