About the Role

We are seeking an experienced MEP Design Manager to join our team at Mace, a leading international consultancy and construction company. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for managing the design process for MEP projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the design process for MEP projects, including coordinating with design teams, reviewing tender documentation, and identifying project risks.
  • Assist the design team through the scheme and production design stages, and work with the delivery team to ensure a smooth transition into implementation and handover.
  • Demonstrate design management procedures, review programmes, and set design deliverables.
  • Attend and chair design team meetings as necessary during contract.
  • Monitor and report on design progress, statutory approvals, outstanding information required, subcontractor design, environmental, and CDM issues.
  • Develop and agree design input/output responsibilities between consultants and subcontractors with design responsibilities.
  • Monitor progress and status of RFIs and document control.

Requirements
  • MEP related degree
  • Design and management experience: coordinating and managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Membership (or working towards it) of RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT, or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development
  • Experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the Aviation sector
  • Construction and consultancy expertise
  • Knowledge of Building Safety legislation, Building standards, construction contracts, professional appointments, and Health & Safety legislation
  • Knowledge and practical experience working towards Fire Regulations compliance
  • Experience of working in large, diverse teams
  • Experience of developing relationships with key senior stakeholders
  • Experience working in BIM environments
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on
