Making a difference in the lives of vulnerable adults
As a Senior Practitioner at South Gloucestershire Council, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of services provided to adults with care and support needs. You will be responsible for carrying out organisational safeguarding enquiries, maintaining records, and making recommendations. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working under the supervision of a Team Manager to conduct organisational safeguarding enquiries and ensure effective links with service providers
- Maintaining records and making recommendations in relation to organisational safeguarding issues, and participating in relevant meetings
- Liaising with Social Work or Occupational Therapy staff, and other associated staff in relation to safeguarding enquiries, social care assessments, support plans, practice, and decision-making
- Deputising for the Team Manager and chairing safeguarding strategy and review meetings, or attending meetings with other agencies
- Maintaining and promoting effective partnerships with relevant agencies, including the CCG and CQC, to achieve best outcomes for service users
- Assisting in developing and implementing multi-agency policies and procedures
- Acting as a practice educator to qualifying and newly qualified staff
Your skills and experience
- You will hold a relevant professional qualification, such as a DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or OT Diploma, and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- You will have relevant post-qualifying experience in a social care setting and experience of dealing with complex cases
- You will be able to provide evidence of ongoing continuous professional development, knowledge of current legislation and practice relating to social care, and the ability to assess and manage risk
- You will have experience of allocation and prioritisation of work to optimise service efficiency, skills and experience of the team, and service user outcomes, and be able to provide supervision of casework
- Ideally, you will be a qualified Best Interest Assessor and have experience of implementing change effectively
Please note that due to the nature of this role, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area, so a full valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle, or alternative appropriate means of travel, is required.
