Electrical Shift Team Leader Job Description

As a key member of our multi-disciplined diagnostic team, the Electrical Shift Team Leader will play a crucial role in responding to breakdowns and developing repair strategies. This role requires a strong technical ability and a Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) mindset to improve performance and reliability across the site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of skilled and apprentice craftsmen in all aspects of the workplace.
  • Plan labour and material requirements for plant needs as specified by Section Engineers.
  • Plan and delegate activities of Team Members and contractors, through monitoring and controlling attendance and holidays and assisting in delivery of technical and safety training.
  • Undertake Technician role as required.
  • Carry out PPM inspections.
  • Coordinate and supervise other services and contractors.
  • Write and review risk assessments, method statements, and procedures.
  • Ensure business health and safety instructions are followed.
  • Use the Maintenance management system to its full capability for maintenance activities.
  • Undertake training to learn new skills and use any training given.
  • Involvement in plant improvement projects.
  • Respond to breakdowns under own initiative.
  • Deliver business communications to team.
Requirements:
  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship (preferably HNC but minimum ONC level or equivalent).
  • Sound plant engineering knowledge and experience of industrial systems.
  • Self-starting driven individual capable of leading a small team.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional groups.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to methodically fault find any issues to root cause and front-line rectification.
  • Experience of working under permit systems previously or has knowledge of how permit systems operate.
  • A customer-focused attitude with an understanding of prioritisation with current resources.
Working Pattern:

This role is 12-hour day shifts. The role requires weekend work with days off in the week.
