Clinical Responsibilities:
  1. Make autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers.
  2. Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  3. Cover all clinical management of patients in surgery, including initiating investigations, reviewing results, and making referrals as appropriate.
  4. Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  5. Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  6. Check, read, and interpret pathological results for patients.
  7. Ensure appropriate follow-up of patients.
  8. Record clear and contemporaneous computerized consultation notes to agreed standards.
Administrative Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in clinical audits, learning event analyses, and practice meetings.
  2. Ensure the practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records.
  3. Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  4. Prescribe appropriately and in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary and NICE guidance.
  5. Work with and provide support for other members of the primary healthcare team.
  6. Play a lead role in the practice achieving agreed and other key performance indicator targets.
Personal/Professional Development:
  1. The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment.
  2. Take responsibility for own development, learning, and performance.
  3. Maintain current and annual certification, e.g. CPR, Fire Safety, Information Governance.
  4. Ensure training and development is up-to-date using various training methods.
PCN & Practice Organisation:
  1. Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence.
  2. Awareness and compliance with all relevant guidelines, e.g. data protection, confidentiality, and health and safety.
