Foster + Partners, a renowned global studio for architecture, engineering, urban, and landscape design, seeks an exceptional Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist. This permanent role is based in London, Battersea, and offers a competitive basic salary of £70,000 - £90,000 per annum.

Job Overview:

The Specialist Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in managing the high-performance computing (HPC) environment, rendering farm, and Linux CFD clusters, ensuring seamless collaboration with specialist teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. HPC & Render Farm Management: Oversee and maintain the HPC environment, including the render farm and Linux-based CFD clusters, to optimize performance and efficiency.
  2. AI & Machine Learning: Support the use of AI and machine learning tools such as Midjourney, DALL-E, Stability AI, and Adobe Firefly, ensuring effective integration within existing infrastructure and adherence to Foster + Partners AI policies and standards.
  3. Technology Solutions: Implement, monitor, and deliver new technology solutions to enhance quality and efficiency, guaranteeing optimal operational systems and hardware support.
  4. POC & Project Management: Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and manage projects related to new technologies, workflows, and hardware implementations.
  5. Incident Management & Resolution: Monitor, manage, and resolve incidents and requests in a timely manner, providing customer updates as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake responsibilities.
  • Licence to work in the country where the position is based.
  • Self-Motivation & Ownership: Proven ability to take ownership of tasks, prioritize workloads, and manage time effectively.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Capability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues up to a 3rd-line support level, ensuring problems are resolved efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Operating Systems Expertise: Strong knowledge and experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, including deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Networking Knowledge: Understanding of networking connectivity, diagnostics, and troubleshooting in a technical environment.
  • Scripting & Programming: Knowledge of scripting languages and computer programming to automate processes and optimize system performance.
  • 3D CAD Software: Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as 3ds Max, Rhino, and Revit.
  • Visualisation Software: Experience with visualisation tools like V-Ray, Cinema 4D, Octane, Enscape, Twinmotion, Lumion, and Deadline.
  • Game Engine Software: Proficiency with game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity for visualisation and simulation.
  • AI & Machine Learning Tools: Good understanding of AI and machine learning tools like Midjourney, DALL-E, Stability AI, and Adobe Firefly, with the ability to support their integration and effective use in design workflows.
