Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Haematology Specialist to join our team at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the management and delivery of high-quality care for patients with haemoglobinopathies.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Provide nursing leadership in the coordination of care across inpatient, emergency, and day care services.
  2. Lead the implementation of individual care plans for patients in day unit, emergency care, and inpatient settings.
  3. Develop and deliver competency packages for each patient pathway and ensure all relevant staff members are trained and assessed as competent.
  4. Work collaboratively with the Haemoglobinopathy team to establish clear roles and responsibilities for managing the multidisciplinary team, audit meetings, nurse-led clinics, clinical ward rounds, and the Haemoglobinopathy Network.
  5. Provide expert clinical advice, support, and guidance for patients, carers, and allied healthcare professionals involved in providing care for patients with sickle cell disease or thalassaemia.
  6. Support and lead nurse-led clinics, telephone, or face-to-face, interpreting results, taking appropriate action, and feeding back in MDT meetings and reviews.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • First-level Registered Nurse or Midwife (with the NMC) and relevant educational/training qualification/certificate/experience.

Desirable

  • BSc or Master's level education or working towards it, Qualified Non-Medical Prescriber, CPD Level 2 in the care of people with haemoglobin disorders, and Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
