Regulatory Strategy Analyst Graduate Programme

We're National Grid Electricity Distribution, the owner and operator behind the electricity distribution systems for the Midlands, the Southwest of England, and South Wales. Our expert teams deliver heat, light, and power for homes and businesses.

As a Regulatory Strategy Analyst Graduate, you'll work with the regulator Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) to secure the best regulatory package to deliver Net Zero commitments. This means balancing business needs with keeping bills affordable for customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating with others across NGED and National Grid to identify value from the regulatory regime.
  • Working on Cost Assessment, producing evidence and analysis to persuade Ofgem for optimal funding.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the wider utility sectors' regulatory milestones and outcomes.
  • Benchmarking efficiency against other Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
Our Graduate Programme

You'll join our 18-month graduate programme, with a tailored development pathway to support your growth. You'll attend in-person and virtual development sessions to equip you with essential skills. We're committed to your personal development, with support from your line manager, 121 coaching, and a mentor.

All graduates complete the core development programme, developing key skills like making an impact, giving feedback, and presentation skills. Aligned to this role is our Commercial pathway, where you'll develop commerciality skills and gain insight into engineering and electricity.

You'll complete three 6-month placements across the UK, deepening your understanding of your speciality and broadening your knowledge of our business.

What You'll Need

You'll need a minimum 2:2 in Economics, Maths, or Business-related degree discipline. You'll also need a valid UK driving license and flexibility to travel within the role and throughout your rotations.

Location

This role is based in Castle Donington or Bristol, offering flexible hybrid working.

What You'll Get

We offer a graduate starting salary of £34,895, a £2,000 bonus, 26 days holiday, and up to £200 per month accommodation allowance. You'll also have access to pension and share-option schemes, Flexible Benefits, close mentorship, and regular feedback.
