About the Role

As a Mechanical & Electrical Technician at Thames Water, you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimize plant breakdown. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to our environmental impact and contribute to reducing pollution from our sites.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid process interruptions.
  • Provide technical advice and support training or referring to up-to-date technical knowledge if required.
  • Work on a range of equipment including motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, electronic control systems, automatic valves, flow, level, and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives, and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
  • Participate in a standby rota following relevant training, with a working pattern of 38 hours Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:36pm plus additional opportunities for overtime increasing earnings by £8-10k per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Requirements

This role requires a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems, working in a multi-skilled capacity. Ideal candidates will have been upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.

A valid driving license is essential, and all necessary equipment, vehicles, and tools are provided.
