Job Title: Aerospace Design Engineer

Thompson Aero Seating Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative aircraft seating solutions that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement design solutions for new aircraft seating concepts and customizations of existing products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of products that meet cost, time, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare technical documents, specifications, and reports related to aircraft seating.
  • Work with vendors, internal departments, and other engineering disciplines to ensure compliant and airworthy products.
  • Support change management through research, concepts, design reviews, trade studies, impact analysis, and implementation.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to product investigation.
  • Support the development of statements of work and bids for new customer requests.
  • Design new products that meet reliability and airworthiness standards to perform consistently in specified operating environments.
  • Identify airworthiness risks and lead root cause analysis and proposed solutions.
Requirements:
  • Proficient in MS Office and knowledge of computer-aided design.
  • Ability to provide input to technical solutions on a wide range of problems, understanding manufacturing and certification principles.
  • Hold a relevant Engineering degree or relevant Apprenticeship (or equivalent) or a minimum of 2 years working in an Engineering environment.
  • A high level of technical and practical knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to applied problem solving.
  • Creative ability to apply practical solutions within the constraints of weight, cost, schedule, and compliance.
  • Previous experience of contributing to the completion of specific programs and projects.
Desirable:
  • General knowledge of applicable regulatory certification rules.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and interior design guidelines for CFR Part 25 aircraft.
  • Experience in any previous compliance role.
