We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary leader to spearhead our global basketball direct-to-consumer (D2C) strategy. As Senior Vice President of Basketball Strategy, you will be responsible for driving overall P&L and crafting a world-class basketball experience within our ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive plan for our global basketball D2C product, with full ownership of the profit and loss performance.
- Design a compelling basketball product proposition, including subscription packages, pricing strategies, and the integration of key features such as live streaming, stats, scores, and highlights.
- Collaborate with our rights team to identify and acquire the optimal mix of basketball properties to attract and retain customers, focusing on driving acquisition and engagement.
- Work closely with our product teams to develop a best-in-class user experience for basketball fans, ensuring that our app delivers a seamless and engaging experience.
- Partner with our marketing team to create acquisition, retention, and re-engagement campaigns tailored for basketball fans, ensuring the successful execution of global and local strategies.
- Collaborate with local markets to fully integrate the global basketball proposition, driving engagement with existing subscribers and cross-sell opportunities.
- Provide thought leadership and strategic direction for basketball initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and market demands.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in leading direct-to-consumer digital platforms with a focus on subscription or PPV models, ideally within sports or media industries.
- Strong practical commercial experience with P&L ownership, combining both trading mentality and strategic foresight to drive sustainable business growth.
- Proven track record of working cross-functionally, providing leadership, direction, and collaboration with marketing, product, and regional teams to execute on business objectives.
- Passion and understanding of global basketball leagues, teams, and culture, with a vision for growing the sport's presence on our platform.
- Ability to think strategically while also being comfortable rolling up sleeves and leading initiatives from concept to execution.
- Demonstrated success in achieving ambitious business goals, scaling operations, and enhancing user engagement through innovative product offerings.
- Proven experience in a senior-level leadership role with a focus on direct-to-consumer platforms, ideally within sports streaming, digital media, or technology sectors.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional management skills, with the ability to work across departments and drive results in a matrixed, global organisation.
- Knowledge of global sports markets, with a particular understanding of the basketball landscape and the ability to adapt strategies for different local markets.
