About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineer Manager to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our infrastructure operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centers across three availability zones. Your expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, as well as your experience in managing large-scale events, will be invaluable in maintaining the high standards of safety and security that our customers expect from us.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of facilities managers and engineers to ensure 100% availability of mechanical and electrical services.
  • Develop and implement risk management and mitigation strategies to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Operate and manage routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical (Military/Trade School) Degree and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a mission-critical environment and LSE (large-scale events) management experience.
  • 3+ years of people-management experience.
  • Previous vendor negotiation and management skills for Data Center and/or upgrade construction contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of Electrical systems in critical Data Center operations including utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA/VRLA batteries, and associated systems.
  • Understanding of Mechanical systems in critical Data Center operations including CRAC/CRAHs/AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, storage tanks, chemical system, heat exchangers, piping systems, pumps, valves, duct systems, fans, dampers.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year.
