Job Description:

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development seeks a highly skilled Chief Funding Officer to join its team. This key position plays a crucial role in the implementation of the Bank's Board-approved annual Borrowing Programme and local currency capital market development.

Reporting to the Director, Deputy Treasurer, Head of Funding, this senior professional will operate with significant autonomy in a complex and changeable environment. Key responsibilities include originating and executing transactions within given broad strategic and operational boundaries, marketing the Bank's credit to a wide range of market counterparties and investors, and representing the Bank at external events.

This position requires exceptional leadership skills, as the successful candidate will provide guidance to other team members and contribute to the development of strategic funding goals. A strong understanding of transaction processes, risk management systems, and market developments is essential.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have extensive debt capital markets experience in a major international financial institution, strong quantitative skills, and excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Taking a leadership role in executing the Borrowing Programme by autonomously originating, structuring, and negotiating complex and varied funding transactions, as well as associated derivatives
  • Pursuing and executing bespoke arbitrage opportunities in exotic currencies and other structured transactions
  • Keeping up-to-date on market and regulatory developments
  • Developing new product types and structures
  • Identifying future potential challenges and contributing to the development of strategic funding goals
  • Marketing the Bank's credit and its specific abilities as a borrower through developing and maintaining relationships with financial intermediaries, investors, and ratings agencies
  • Contribution to the work undertaken in connection with key strategic initiatives of the Bank
  • Preparing presentations for external (rating agencies and investors) and internal (FOPC and ALCOM) audiences
  • Maintaining a frequent dialogue with internal policy-setting bodies and committees
  • Representing the Bank externally on key initiatives, and Treasury internally on various management committees
  • Working closely with OGC, external lawyers, and financial intermediaries on the negotiation, drafting, and completion of transaction documentation
  • Work closely with Treasury Analytics/Research and other departments such as Risk Management, Operations, Middle Office, and Financial Control
  • Providing guidance to team members in executing transactions

Requirements:

We are seeking a seasoned professional with a Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred or equivalent experience in the area of expertise/recognised professional qualification). The ideal candidate will have extensive debt capital markets experience in a major international financial institution, strong quantitative skills, and excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

What We Offer:

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development offers a competitive salary, ranging from £120,000 - £180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
