About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineering Surveyor to join our Investment and Compliance Team at Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the civil engineering function across our housing and corporate stock, including sewage treatment works, pumping stations, drainage works, and car parks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain our civil engineering assets, ensuring they are in good working order and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance and repair strategies to minimize downtime and optimize resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with our Investment and Compliance Team to ensure that all civil engineering projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to our colleagues, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their roles effectively.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory requirements, applying this knowledge to improve our civil engineering services.
Requirements
  • RICS-accredited surveying degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum HNC standard and NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety.
  • Proven experience of working in a civil engineering service area within social housing or a related sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of housing properties, building and service components, and building defects and solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Valid driving license and ability to travel to various locations as required.
