About the Role

Methods is a leading IT services consultancy partnering with central government departments and agencies to transform the public sector in the UK. We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis, working on-site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement secure on-prem infrastructure solutions, ensuring compliance with NCSC secure design principles.
  • Develop automation scripts to support continuous delivery of changes, using technologies tailored to on-prem environments.
  • Collaborate with architects, data, and software engineers to ensure development follows established processes and works as intended.
  • Plan and manage projects, making effective decisions and communicating complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats, with a focus on on-prem platforms and administration of secrets, tokens, and certificates.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in on-prem infrastructure management, with a focus on security and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of automation tools, such as Ansible and Terraform, and containerization platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Experience with software development change/release management processes and technical governance.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to understand their needs and convey this to developers.
  • Knowledge of government digital service manual and standards across Discovery/Alpha/Beta/Live phases.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience working with on-prem DevOps tooling and implementing effective instrumentation to monitor applications.
  • Knowledge of SAST and DAST tooling in deployment pipelines like Trivvy and SonarQube.
  • Experience with Terraform to deploy on-prem infrastructure and automation tools to build and deploy containerized applications.
