Job Description

Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

Job Summary:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key leadership role responsible for driving the overall strategy and direction of the company. The COO will provide strategic leadership, management, and vision to ensure the company's operational controls, administrative/reporting procedures, and people/systems are in place to effectively grow the business and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee business support functions to deliver high-quality services to clients and stakeholders
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to team members to ensure competence in legal and regulatory issues
  • Monitor and provide guidance on adequate staffing levels to meet customer demands and service levels
  • Work with teams to ensure delivery against the strategic direction set by the CEO and Board
  • Collaborate with Production, Commercial, Document Services, IT, and Projects teams to ensure effective processes exist and are maintained
  • Understand business aspects of technology and formulate priorities to work with the IT team
  • Work with Compliance and HR teams to interpret business policy and design to deliver effective quality assurance processes
  • Identify and implement solutions to issues/problems with Production, Commercial, Document Services, IT, and Projects teams
  • Ensure robust data is available to monitor business performance and support strategic decision-making
  • Proactively monitor internal and external trends to gain insight and shape products and service offerings to increase competitiveness
  • Maintain and develop own skills, knowledge, and behaviours as well as keep up to date with regulatory standards and changes
  • Participate in expansion activities and assist in raising additional capital to enable the company to meet sales, growth, and market-share objectives
  • Provide regular clear reporting to the CEO and other relevant stakeholders on business and team performance in line with business objectives
  • Manage relationships with partners/suppliers and clients, being the professional 'face' of the business

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a passion and commitment for continuous improvement, outstanding organisational and leadership abilities, and the ability to recognise and cultivate rising talent. They will be collaborative, supportive, calm under pressure, solution-focused, and able to lead others effectively and in such a way that encourages maximum performance and engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

The candidate should have experience in a key role within a large manufacturing business and be able to demonstrate a track record of driving business growth and improvement.
