Job Title: Staff Java Developer - Cloud Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Java Developer to join our team as a Cloud Architect. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable systems, powering client-facing dashboards, and optimizing performance through your expertise in data pipelines, APIs, and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own, design, and implement key components of the unified backend data infrastructure.
  • Define data aggregation methods for high availability and performance in consuming applications.
  • Build the systems and software to achieve these goals.
  • Leverage your expertise in the tech stack to influence future direction.
  • Drive engineering best practices and mentor team members.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience building scalable, distributed systems using open-source tools.
  • Proficient in Object-Oriented programming (e.g., Java/C++) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby).
  • Experienced with Agile methodologies and writing complex SQL queries (PostgreSQL a plus).
  • Familiar with API frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot) and big data infrastructures like (HBase, RDBMS, Redshift).
  • Skilled in optimizing database performance using indexing, caching, etc.
  • Experienced with public cloud platforms, especially AWS (CloudFormation, EMR, S3, EC2, Athena).
  • Knowledge of scheduling services (Airflow, Oozie) and data ETL/modeling.
  • Experienced in building large-scale systems and data warehousing solutions.
  • Able to develop prototypes and proof-of-concept systems.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills.
  • Committed to excellence and collaboration across teams.
  • Prior experience in technical leadership or mentorship.
What We Offer:
  • Salary up to £85k base + 10% bonus + other fantastic healthcare and pension benefits.
