Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Road Operations Supervisor to join our team at Clackmannanshire Council. As a key member of our Highway Maintenance team, you will be responsible for leading a squad of skilled roadworkers and contractors, ensuring that our roads and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Instruct and supervise a team of skilled roadworkers and contractors, providing guidance and support to ensure that work is carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Work Planning and Coordination: Programme daily work schedules in accordance with instructions from the Roads Supervisor or Contracts Officer, ensuring that work is completed on time and to the required standard.
  • Health and Safety: Take responsibility for the health and safety of your team, contractors, and the public working on or adjacent to the work site, ensuring that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Communication and Liaison: Communicate effectively with members of the public, the workforce, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of works on site, providing clear information about the purpose and method of works.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete paperwork related to working hours, plant, and materials, and order materials as required, ensuring that all administrative tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Flexibility and Availability: Participate in out-of-hours working throughout the year as required, including winter provision and summer standby rotas, to ensure that our roads and infrastructure are maintained 24/7.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in highway maintenance, with experience of leading a team and supervising contractors. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. In addition, you will need to be flexible and able to work outside of normal hours as required.
