We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join our Technical Services team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our pharmacy staff, ensuring the safe and effective preparation and dispensing of medicines.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate stock levels of medicines and consumables, ensuring timely replenishment and disposal of expired or damaged items.
- Assist in the receipt and return of cleanroom clothing, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
- Support the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Senior Pharmacy Technician in Aseptic Services and Oncology, providing training and guidance to pharmacy assistants and technicians.
- Undertake waste management and disposal of returned pharmaceutical products, following standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with pharmacy portering and transport staff to ensure safe and efficient handling and delivery of medicines.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and organized working environment, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines.
- NVQ level 2 certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
- Supervisory experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Understanding of local and national NHS and Pharmaceutical Policy.
- Knowledge of medicines legislation and guidance, including the Medicines Act and Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with pharmacy and hospital staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
