Leading Veterinary Team Member

We are seeking an experienced and skilled veterinarian to lead a large team of veterinarians and nursing staff at our Hunter Veterinary Hospital.
Job OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity to join our animal welfare leadership team at RSPCA NSW as a Managing Veterinarian. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and expanding a large newly renovated veterinary hospital, providing quality care to private clients and their animals, as well as those in RSPCA shelters and under the care of our Inspectorate.
The role requires strong clinical and leadership skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care, mentoring veterinary staff, and contributing to strategic responsibilities. You will work closely with an experienced team of dedicated veterinarians and veterinary nurses, with diverse interests including shelter medicine, surgery, equine medicine, and exotic animals.
Responsibilities- Lead a large team of veterinarians and nursing staff
- Develop and implement strategies for improving patient care and services
- Mentor and coach veterinary staff to achieve high standards of practice
- Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making
- Work collaboratively with other teams within RSPCA NSW
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW
- Minimum five years' experience as a veterinarian within a veterinary practice
- Qualifications in management and/or previous experience managing a team of veterinary surgeons
- Previous experience in leading a team, including recruitment and performance management
- A demonstrated high standard of veterinary practice
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills
- High-level problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
We offer a competitive annual salary of up to $148,000 plus superannuation, based on experience. This role also provides opportunities for professional development, including further studies, involvement in policy creation and/or research, and career advancement within RSPCA NSW.
