Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Urban Development Specialist to join our team at Hunter Dunning. As a Planning Consultant, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our clients' projects, working closely with our team of experts to deliver high-quality results.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in town planning, with a proven track record of success in a similar position. You will be responsible for preparing and assisting with fee proposals and tenders, conducting site visits and client/public meetings, and providing advice to relevant stakeholders through verbal discussions and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and assistance with fee proposals and tenders
  • Site visits and client/public meetings
  • Site promotion through the Local Plan system (representation, hearing statements, and advocacy reports)
  • Conduct research and carry out planning appraisals to assess site development potential
  • Assist with preparation, submission and management of applications and appeals
  • Provide advice to relevant stakeholders through verbal discussions and reports and written communication.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Town Planning or similar
  • Chartered membership or working towards
  • Proven experience working in a similar position with a consultancy or local authority
  • Research skills and experience undertaking planning appraisals for sites with development potential
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car.

  • Salary of £30,000 - £33,000 for Planner level or up to £45,000 for Senior Planner
