The Aurora Group is a leading provider of educational services, dedicated to preparing students for adult life through person-centred academic and vocational study programmes.

Located in the beautiful Dorset countryside, our college offers a unique learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities, including multi-use sports areas, therapy spaces, and animal care facilities.

We are seeking an experienced Animal Care Assistant to join our team on a holiday cover basis. As an Animal Care Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of our animals during the college holidays.

Job Summary

  • Clean, feed, and check on animals daily throughout the college holidays
  • Report any concerns to the Head of Care and make appointments with the vet as necessary
  • Refill food and water daily and clean shelters/hutches weekly
  • Educate yourself about animal behaviour, health, and welfare to ensure the best possible care for our animals

Requirements

  • Experience of caring for a wide range of animals
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills
  • Excellent written and verbal literacy skills
  • Able to meet the demands of physically challenging work at times
  • Able to work within a rota pattern including unsocial hours and weekends

Salary

We offer a competitive salary of £12-£15 per hour (dependent on experience), plus 0.5% holiday pay, reflecting the importance of this role in ensuring the welfare of our animals.
