Environmental Health Specialist

Major Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Health Specialist to join one of our clients in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to take on a key role in ensuring the safety and quality of products at the Port.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Environmental Health, with a degree or Master's in the field and the EHORB qualification. Key responsibilities will include implementing biosecurity controls, supervising internal stakeholders, and enforcing legislation to prevent the importation of unfit consignments of food or feed.
We are offering a competitive salary of £32.66 per hour, which translates to approximately £68,000 per year, based on a 35-hour workweek. This is a Monday-to-Friday role, working 7 hours per day.
Main Duties:
- Responsible for implementing biosecurity controls for Products of Non-Animal Origin, fish and fishery products, and Organics.
- Accountable for taking decisions on the outcome of controls.
- Supervise internal stakeholders operating at Border Control Posts.
- Enforce legislation aimed at preventing the importation of unfit consignments of food or feed.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the development and maintenance of effective systems of service delivery, based on Departmental and Port Health Service Business Plans, Port Health Food and Feed Enforcement Service Plan, and Port Health Sampling Plan.
