Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As an Industrial Placement Naval Ships Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing complex mechanical systems for our naval ships.
About the Role:
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems, including the application of scientific principles and technical information to generate concept ideas. You will also be responsible for creating detailed designs using 3D modelling and analysis tools, taking into account factors such as materials, manufacture, assembly, cost, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capturing and analysing requirements to understand customer/business needs and the context in which the system will be used.
- Supporting the design and optimisation of system architectures and solutions using system modelling techniques.
- Facilitating successful integration of systems and sub-systems.
- Identifying and mitigating failure modes.
- Supporting the identification of safety hazards and the assessment and mitigation of safety risk.
- Creating high-quality written reports and calculations to back up engineering decisions.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering, or Marine Engineering. You must also be returning to university to complete your degree.
