Quarry and Recycling Manager

At Tarmac, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quarry and Recycling Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the environmental, safety, and operational standards of our quarry and recycling operations.

• Leading and managing the contract crush and earthworks contractors
• Delivery of toolbox talks and ensuring compliance with business policies and procedures
• Managing all aspects of daily environmental, sustainability, and operational requirements of the quarry and recycling area
• Ensuring the permitted recycling area is operating compliantly in-line with its environmental permit/waste management license
• Driving operational performance through KPIs and timely resolution of queries assigned to the sector
• Maintaining site housekeeping to a high standard and responsible for the budget in relation to the plant you are responsible for

• Area Operations teams - Health & Safety team - Procurement and support teams - National Logistics team - Area Commercial teams - Area HR Manager - Industry Bodies – Customers – RAP Manager

To be successful in this role, you will have experience and knowledge of:

• Experience in Quarry operations
• Experience in environmental, sustainability, and recycling programmes
• Previous experience of a Sand and Gravel Quarry environment
• Previous experience of a recycling environment
• Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
• Working knowledge of H&S and Environmental policies

Desirable qualifications include a role-associated degree in Environmental or Sustainability, IOSH Managing Safely, NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations, and WAMITAB or equivalent qualification.

You will be able to actively identify and implement site and process improvements, effectively communicate and look for opportunities to identify customer needs, and maintain site housekeeping to a high standard.
