Ford & Slater Limited: HGV Technician / Shift Supervisor Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician / Shift Supervisor to join our team at our Chesterfield depot. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for managing a team of HGV Technicians, ensuring workshop activities are compliant with Health and Safety legislation, and allocating work to the Workshop.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of HGV Technicians to ensure efficient and effective maintenance and repair of a wide variety of trucks and vehicles.
  • Ensure workshop activities are compliant with Health and Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Allocate work to the Workshop and complete job cards.
  • Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of trucks and vehicles.
  • Fault diagnostics and mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturers procedures and in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
  • Attend any technical or development training that is made available.
Requirements:
  • Previous Workshop Supervisor experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
  • Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme.
  • Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
  • Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturers procedures.
  • Sound knowledge to accurately diagnose faults.
  • Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
  • General level of computer literacy.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Working Hours:

Alternating weeks, Monday to Friday: 6am-3pm / 1pm-10pm
