We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team at Northern Powergrid, a leading energy distribution company. As an Innovation Project Manager, you will play a key role in our Net Zero transition, working with internal and external stakeholders to understand the challenges faced and identify and deliver innovation projects that align with our existing innovation strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Develop strong stakeholder relationships with internal function teams.
- Build a clear understanding of challenges and priorities in the energy transition and lead the development of strategic innovation activity to support these.
- Work closely with internal and external subject matter experts and innovators to design and deliver impactful innovation projects that align with Ofgem's guidance and Northern Powergrid's ED2 Business Plan.
- Contribute to a strong team culture within NPG innovation, actively supporting the coordination and showcasing of innovation activities across the business and industry.
- Manage the full cycle of innovation projects, including project design, bid writing and application, delivery, reporting, and project closedown.
- Liaise with and manage project partners and third-party contractors, as well as associated engagement and travel.
- Project management and governance, including day-to-day running of projects, managing project deliverables, reporting and benefits capture, and project finances.
- Project reporting and dissemination of project learning and outputs with the wider energy innovation community.
- Strong planning and organizing skills, including programme and project management.
- Highly effective relationship management skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong commercial skills, particularly in bid production.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality bids and plans.
- Ability to convert strategic priorities into actionable innovation portfolios.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret information and apply judgment to decision-making.
- Level 4 qualification, such as a HNC in Electrical engineering or a suitable STEM subject.
- Experience managing and delivering projects in an energy/STEM discipline.
- Energy sector experience and knowledge of the decarbonisation energy transition.
- Full UK driving license.
