Job Title: Residential Childcare Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team at Polaris Community. As a Residential Childcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, welcoming, and healthy environment for young people in our care.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team, supporting young people who have been in care and are moving towards independence. You will be responsible for providing a responsive, customized, and quality service to young people, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work in line with person-centered risk assessments, support plans, and liaise with support workers to provide a full handover
  • Observe any change in behavior, ensuring appropriate actions are documented and report changes in support needs of any young person
  • Maintain positive working relationships with young people, staff, and professionals by communicating effectively at all times
  • Ensure continuous support is provided to young people at the standards of day staff, with particular focus on the safety of vulnerable people
  • Carry out any necessary health and safety actions, including cleaning tasks, along with set policies and procedures
  • Liaise with external agencies, such as police and Emergency Duty Team (EDT)
  • Support young people who need to attend the hospital or police station
Requirements:
  • Experience of supporting young people who may be vulnerable
  • Flexibility in availability, as the role will include weekend work
  • Hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or be willing to study towards this
  • Be willing to travel, with a full driving license and access to a vehicle required
  • Excellent computer skills
