Fortus Recruitment Group Limited is a recruitment company that specializes in placing people within the repairs & maintenance industry. We are currently working on behalf of a Local Authority.

We are looking for a Fire Alarm Engineer with installation and reactive repairs experience. Our client offers further training to build on your existing knowledge within the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day planned and reactive maintenance of contracts.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and carry out any remedial works as required.
  • Carry out asset verification.
  • Install replacement/additional equipment.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.
  • Conduct site surveys as required.
  • Train apprentices.
  • Act professionally and diligently, considering the needs of the client.
  • Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems (BS5839-1) and emergency lighting systems, Nurse Call, and Access Control in accordance with relevant British Standards.
  • Complete engineer service reports correctly.
  • Report deficiencies or deviations in systems.
  • Maintain emergency lighting systems and other associated equipment, such as fire extinguishers and AOVs.
  • Conduct regular van stock checks and liaise with the Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement Department to keep replenished and appropriately stocked.
  • Maintain a health and safety mindset, looking at possible risks associated with the role and reporting any issues promptly.
  • Complete a first-time fix where possible.
Requirements:
  • Good understanding of British Standards BS 5839 and BS 5266.
  • FIA Level or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of industry experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate at all levels.
  • A flexible approach to work with a minimum of 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri, with opportunities to earn significantly more through weekends and participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • A full UK Driving License.
  • Previous fire alarm experience and knowledge of analogue addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
  • FIA training (or equivalent) to BS5839-1 Fundamentals with an understanding of BS5839, particularly part one and part six.
  • A good level of IT literacy.
  • An understanding of Health and Safety Regulations within the workplace.
