Job Summary

The Digital Modelling Manager will work independently on the design and packaging of current and future vehicle platforms and products, managing a team of digital modellers with diverse skill sets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality CAD solutions that meet design and engineering requirements while adhering to key program timing and budget constraints.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate a team of digital modellers to deliver premium CAD solutions that support design and engineering intent.
  • Plan and prioritize the workload of the digital modelling team, utilizing both permanent and agency resources.
  • Provide accurate estimates for resource and time scales to enable efficient program timing while maintaining optimal output from the design studio.
  • Establish and develop CAD delivery standards to ensure premium CAD delivery regardless of the surface CAD package used.
  • Support the production of physical properties to further develop company standards of excellence in craftsmanship and design detail.
  • Ensure the integration of feasibility in design properties prior to downstream engineering, taking a proactive role in suggesting and implementing design ideas using experience and judgment.
  • Support the development of key cost and efficiency processes with the design studio, maximizing output, minimizing cost, and producing the best aesthetics possible.
  • Support the organization and management of external supply budgets to support premium automotive design solutions.
  • Act as a technical expert for Class A production digital solutions with the design studio.
  • Support the entire design studio and external departments of the company with feasible CAD solutions to design proposals and actively suggest/implement solutions using experience and judgment.
  • Monitor, justify, and implement technical developments within the industry, with particular reference to the evolution of new technologies that could affect design processes.
  • Drive craftsmanship standards from within the design studio to further improve the quality of production solutions.
  • Support the identification of alternative and diverse sources of revenue that draw upon the range of disciplines within the design studio.
Requirements
  • Must be fully CAD literate and able to use a range of CAD tools to create and evaluate CAD work.
  • Must be PC literate and able to use and understand a range of PC software to support the design process.
  • Must be able to set up and use a range of visualization tools, including projector and power wall facilities, to support the presentation of design team work.
