About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Commercial Director to join our team at MK Gallery. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a crucial role in driving the commercial growth and success of the gallery.

As Head of Commercial Services, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue streams, improve customer engagement, and enhance the overall visitor experience. You will work closely with our Deputy Director, Marketing and Audience Development Team, and other stakeholders to achieve these goals.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Development: Collaborate with senior leaders to deliver an exceptional visitor experience, develop a commercial growth strategy, and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, motivate, and develop the Catering and Events Team to achieve best performance and meet gallery needs.
  • Catering: Manage all aspects of the MK Café, ensuring it is open to the public with a dynamic food offer during opening times, and achieving 5* food hygiene standards.
  • Event Hire: Oversee the Gallery's room booking system, coordinate internal and external events, and ensure front-of-house staff have comprehensive event schedules.
  • Retail: Develop new product lines, including exhibition merchandise, artist products, and unique gifts, and work with local makers to produce sale-or-return items.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Senior-level event management experience, demonstrated ability to deliver complex events, and experience managing sales targets and driving income.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent organisational skills, business acumen, entrepreneurial outlook, strong communication skills, and well-developed negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge: Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, licensing, and other legal requirements.
