Kubernetes Platform Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Kubernetes Platform Engineer to join our Engineering team in London. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering continuous improvement, automation, and self-service offerings to operational teams across the Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable and secure containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Kubernetes, including security hardening and service mesh technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement monitoring and logging solutions using Prometheus, InfluxDB, and Grafana.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git, Ansible, Terraform, and TeamCity.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and practices using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Work with multi-cloud environments, including Azure, Oracle, Google, and AWS.
  • Develop and maintain scripting and programming skills in PowerShell, Python, Bash, and C#.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in cloud native computing.

Requirements

  • Exceptional skills in Docker and Kubernetes deployment and configuration.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes security hardening and service mesh technologies.
  • Experience with Prometheus, InfluxDB, and Grafana monitoring stack.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and practices.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and practices.
  • Multi-cloud environment experience.
  • Scripting and programming skills in PowerShell, Python, Bash, and C#.
  • Knowledge of RHEL, Oracle Linux, Oracle Solaris, and related technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of clustering, high-availability, replication, and disaster recovery techniques.
  • Ability to tune network, storage, server, and virtualization layers for optimal performance and reliability.
  • Excellent performance tuning skills and in-depth knowledge of system internals.
  • Ability to interpret and implement CIS security hardening recommendations in a controlled manner.
  • Acute awareness of security and auditing requirements in a regulated environment.
