Job Description

As a Construction Engineering Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces, you will play a critical role in providing engineering support to military operations. Your primary responsibilities will include planning, developing, and implementing projects involving a wide range of military engineering tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare or approve construction drawings, designs, and cost estimates
  • Advise superiors on military engineering matters
  • Exercise leadership and technical control over organizations involved in engineering services
  • Provide mapping, charting, and geodesic support to sea, land, and air operations
  • Lead and manage a team of skilled personnel
Work Environment

Construction Engineers work as part of a Construction Engineering Flight or Unit. They may be deployed on operational tours, either in Canada or around the world, and will be responsible for maintaining the camp infrastructure throughout the mission.

As a Construction Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from setting up humanitarian assistance camps in Haiti to weatherproofing a radar installation in the High Arctic. You will be part of a team of highly skilled technicians and will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in a variety of areas.

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have a university degree in a relevant field and meet the basic training and military officer qualification training requirements. If you already have a university degree, the CAF will decide if your academic program matches the criteria for this job and may place you directly into the required on-the-job training program following basic training.
