We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students who have struggled in mainstream schools.

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be responsible for providing dedicated support to our secondary students who have experienced challenging behaviour. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure that each student receives the support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students who have struggled in mainstream schools, helping them stay engaged and motivated.
  • Utilize your experience with PRU settings to manage and respond to challenging behaviours effectively.
  • Apply your understanding of trauma-informed practices to support students with compassion and sensitivity.
  • De-escalate potential conflicts and challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel comfortable and supported in their learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure support for each student.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with secondary students in PRU settings or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with behavioural issues and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
