Astute People is recruiting an experienced EC&I Technician to join their team at an Energy from Waste plant in Kent, South East England.

This exciting opportunity involves performing routine and preventative maintenance on critical equipment, including DCS/SCADA Systems, PLC's, drives, motors, switchgear, etc.

Responsibilities and Key Performance Indicators

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the power station's electrical, controls, and instrumentation assets.

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance duties on electrical, controls, and instrumentation assets across the power station
  • Fault find and maintain electrical systems, including motors, drives, single-phase, and three-phase equipment, switchgear, high/low-voltage plant, and instrumentation/control systems
  • Perform calibration tasks on instrumentation
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities, plant modifications, and design work
  • Supervise third-party contractors
  • Adhere to maintenance best practices and techniques
  • Collaborate with colleagues on plant developments and projects
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities on the site CMMS

This is a permanent position offering a highly competitive salary of up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus bonus, overtime, call-out payments, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • An ideal background in a recognised Electrical/C&I apprenticeship in a heavy process industry
  • A relevant technical qualification, such as an NVQ/ONC/HNC in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation engineering, or a similar discipline
  • No less than 4 years of hands-on maintenance experience with motors, switchgear, instrumentation, and control systems
  • PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE OF PROCESS PLANT AND EQUIPMENT GAINED IN A HEAVY ENGINEERING ENVIRONMENT SUCH AS POWER GENERATION, PETROCHEMICAL, STEEL WORKS, CHP PLANT, PAPER MILL, ETC. ROYAL NAVY MARINE ENGINEERS WILL ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
  • Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential
  • Experience with high-voltage equipment, such as transformers/switchgear, will be advantageous
