A rare opportunity to lead a strategic data science project improving mineral prospecting decision making.

The post is available immediately, on a 2-year fixed term basis, including a £4K training budget and dedicated time for personal development.

You will work alongside the Principal Geologist and technical support staff at SRK Exploration and across SRK's global practices.

As the Data Scientist, you will lead the project to develop and embed innovative data models revolutionising mineral exploration methods.

This role offers excellent opportunities for industrial and research skills development, utilising the expertise of company supervisors and benefiting from academic support.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Data Science, Statistics or Mathematical Science background with PhD or Master's degree in a quantitative subject.
  2. Self-starter with confidence in abilities and strong communication skills.
  3. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  4. Familiarity with Bayesian statistics and simulation techniques, experience in Python or R programming.

The department has gained a Silver Athena SWAN award, committed to equality of opportunity and advancing women's representation in STEM/M subjects.

Pay: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

Interviews are expected to take place at SRK Exploration's premises in Cardiff or potentially via videoconference.
