Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team at a special school that provides exceptional support to students with complex, severe, and profound learning difficulties.

The school caters to students from 3 to 19 years old, offering opportunities to work across various key stages and enhance your professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for working with young people, especially those with special educational needs
  • Engage and inspire students in their learning journey
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Apply a sound understanding of special educational needs and employ effective strategies to support young people
  • Bring previous experience working in education, particularly in SEN settings
Ideal Candidate:
  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification
  • Strong understanding of SEN and strategies to support young people
  • Previous experience working with young people
  • Previous experience working with individuals with additional needs is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, especially at short notice
