About the Job

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. As a Clinical Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the scientific teams in the laboratory, carrying out routine duties such as reception, storage, and retrieval of blood samples.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the scientific teams in the laboratory by carrying out routine duties such as reception, storage, and retrieval of blood samples.

  • Maintain reagent stocks and equipment, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available for testing.

  • Assist with the operational requirements of running POCT devices, including Blood Gas analysers and glucose meters.

  • Ensure quality and clinical governance is upheld with the use of POCT devices, staff training on the use of POCT devices, information management, and consumables management of POCT devices.

Requirements

  • A Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline, or significant laboratory experience in the relevant discipline.

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at level C/4 or above.

  • Previous NHS laboratory experience.

  • Ability to follow and work to Standard Operating Procedures and Policy.

  • Experience with a range of laboratory techniques.
